Alisi and Egyir win 2018 Babolat Doubles Open

Clement Alisi and his doubles Partner Fred Egyir won the 2018 Babolat Doubles open title with a 6-4,6-4 victory over the Abloh brothers (Prince and Rahman) in the social one category at the TOR Tennis Club House Tema Com 8 last weekend.

In the first set Fred and Clement broke Abloh brothers in the ninth game to win the set 6-4. The second set followed the same pattern as Rahman showed some fine touches at the net, but neither he nor Prince could do enough on the return to make an impression against Fred/Clement and lost 6-4 in the second set.

After displays of beautiful tennis to the admiration of tennis enthusiasts at the TOR tennis  house by Michael Adade and  his partner Kwabena Awuku they still lost to more a composed partners, Charles and George in a game that ended 6-2,6-2 in the social two finals. Paa Kofi and Ike Nartey won the above 50 category after ousting Napon and Alfred 8-1.

In the mixed category,  Andraws Adu Appiah (Akaak) and his mixed doubles partner Yvonne Bruce Tagoe won their second consecutive Babolat mixed doubles Open title with a 8-6  triumph over Kate Coleman and Roberts Botwe. In the Boy’s 14, Stadium based Ishmael Nortey  Dowuona and Richard Okine won beating Desmond Ayaaba and Bright Nortey.

Mr Ismailia Lamptey, CEO of Baboo Sports and the tournament co-coordinator said he was impressed with the high level of play exhibited by both the professional and social players. He pleaded on corporate bodies to come on board so that the tournament can be extended to other parts of the country.

The tournament attracted players from Ho tennis Club, UCC Tennis Club, St, Francis Foundation-Ashaiman, Regional Maritime Tennis Club-Nungua, Kaneshie Tennis Club, Sakumono Tennis Club, Ghana Tennis Club-Adabraka, TDC Tennis Club, TOR Tennis Club and GHACEM Tennis Club.

Jude wins his Second Goldfields Internal Tourney

Jude Asiedu resisted stiff opposition from 3-time champion Eric Okyere and Emmanuel Amos-Banyie to win the 8th edition of Goldfields Internal Tennis Tourney- Tarkwa. In-form Jude Asiedu lived up to expectations of his teeming fans who urged him on to ease past Emmanuel Amos-Banyie 9-8(6)and 9-5 against 9-5 in the top three round robin game. Eunice Mintah and Tracy Ampah were the finalists with Eunice Mintah winning 9-7 to lift the ladies trophy in the Women’s event. In the women’s doubles: Tracy Ampah and Georgina Adusei earlier on defeated Eunice Minta and her sister Roseline Afari-Minta in the final which was keenly contested. Tracy again paired up with Osman Karim and ousted former champions Eric Okyere and Ruby Sanoah in the mixed doubles category. Bayport Tennis Cup: Sakumono Tennis Club To host VRA Tennis Club

Sakumono Tennis Club  will host their counterparts from Akosombo, Volta River Authority Tennis Club in a special friendly tennis game this weekend. The one-day tourney which will take place on Saturday 24th November 2018, is sponsored by Bayport Savings and Loans and will see some of the best tennis players from Sakumono Tennis Club led by Henry Akwaboa, Sammy  Ewool, Frank Eshun, Tina Yamak, Louisa Davies and Eric Owusu.
