ITF Officiating level 1 Course Ends

International Tennis Federation (ITF), Tennis Foundation Ghana and Ghana Tennis Federation held a 3 day ITF level 1 Officiating course at the Accra Sports Stadium Tennis Courts. 18 candidates from Kumasi and Accra participated in the course.

The course is expected to impact Ghana tennis greatly, since most of the participating officials are involved in the game of tennis.

ITF white badge Officials Frank Opoku, Abubakari Lea-Yakubu and Godfrey Tetteh steered the course. During the 3 day course, specific areas covered included:
* Rules of tennis
* Officiating in tennis (Line umpiring and Chair umpiring).

The closing ceremony came after the written exams on Tuesday 13th November 2018 and certificates of participation were awarded to the participants.

Secretary General of Ghana Tennis, Philippina Frimpong, in an interview with Ghana tennis.org said "tennis officials are the custodians of the game of tennis. If you do not know the rules of the game, you may not be able to even run the game properly. We are aware that the qualified officials certified by ITF that we have are very few, that was why it was necessary to have this course".

Isaac Duah, President of Ghana Tennis Federation, thanked International Tennis Federation(ITF), Tennis Foundation Ghana and the officiating officials for their time and effort during the course.
