VRA Tennis Club Marks 1st Anniversary of Major Mahama

The Volta River Authority Tennis Club (VRA), Accra, on Saturday, hosted their counterpart from Akosombo, in a special tennis friendly tournament to mark one year Anniversary of Major Mahama who  was lynched to death by a mob at Denkyira Obuasi now New Denkyira and then given a state burial. Present for the one day Tourney was the wife of late Major Mahama, Barbara Mahama and some family members. The one-day tournament was dominated by home team Volta River Authority Tennis Club, Accra. Speaking to Tennisgh.com, Chairman of VRA Tennis Club, Accra, Colonel Van Der-Pallen said “This year we decided to have the one year celebration of Major with VRA counterpart from Akosombo, not like last year where we invited other members from other club houses. 1st edition of Hope Performance Tennis Tourney ends in style

The very first edition of the Tennis Clinic and Tournament organized by the Hope Tennis Foundation successfully ended at the tennis court of the Accra Sports stadium over the weekend with winners in different age categories. The initiative, which is to train young tennis players under 16 years began on Wednesday with a tennis clinic and saw about 500 children from 11 clubs participating. The children, aged between 8 and 16 were taken through the basics of the game for 2 days before the competition started on Friday, September 7, 2018. The event, which was organised by the Hope Tennis Club with the collaborative effort of the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF), Tennis Foundation Ghana (TFG) saw Stadium B, emerging winners of the U-12 category. Baboo Academy placed 2nd whiles St Francis Foundation occupied the 3rd spot. Ghanaian Wheelchair Tennis players Ready for International Challenge

Playing a tournament at home in front of your own fans is always an advantage. For Ghana Wheelchair Tennis stars McLean Atsu Dzidzienyo, Francis Boateng, Isaac Antwi, Bridget Nartey and Vida Antwi participating in the upcoming ITF Wheelchair Tennis Futures tournament will give the local players a definite advantage and a chance to earn valuable points to improve their respective international world rankings and gain points to qualify them to the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. The 2018 ITF Wheelchair Tennis Futures Tournament  will be staged at the Accra Sports Stadium Tennis Courts from November 7th to 10th 2018. The ITF Futures Tournament is sponsored by Tennis Foundation Ghana(TFG) and Dan D’ van group of companies.
