VRA beats NEDCO in Tennis friendly

Akosombo VRA Tennis Club , last Saturday  put up a lucky performance to defeat Tamale NEDCO Tennis Club Tema 5-4 in their friendly competition played at the Akosombo Tennis Courts.






The game which was aimed at strengthening the already existing cordial relationship between the two clubs saw captain of VRA Alfred Okang winning the first game 7-3 against Hassan Neindow
The VRA team continued their winning ways  as Samuel Lamptey beat Mohammed Suleman 7-3 in a keenly contested game.




The tide however changed in favour of Tamale NEDCO Tennis Club as Sampson Sayibu beat Isaac Narh 7-2 with Dominic Amevor also beating Yaw Akotuah 7-6.

In the doubles event, Dan Aggrey and his partner Commoder Kyaanu set the ball rolling with a 7-3 win over Dan Dadzie and Isaac, Lloyd Newton paired up with Ernest Okyere(Djibobo) to oust Justice and Nii 7-3. C Attivoe and Kweku Boateng added another to the home team beating William and Mohammed 7-4.



Tamale NEDCO Tennis Club also recorded two victories in the doubles as Fatawa/ Hassan defeat Nana Kum and Nii Akwei 7-5. Dominic Amervoh Sampson Sayibu also walloping Dickson brothers (Kow and Ekow) 7-1.

Captain of Akosombo VRA Tennis Club, Alfred Okang, congratulated Tamale NEDCO Tennis Club for honoring their invitation in the one-day competition. “We are very happy that you honored our invitation. It’s been a wonderful exercise and we hope this will make our bond as tennis clubs stronger”.

Jude wins his Second Goldfields Internal Tourney

Jude Asiedu resisted stiff opposition from 3-time champion Eric Okyere and Emmanuel Amos-Banyie to win the 8th edition of Goldfields Internal Tennis Tourney- Tarkwa. In-form Jude Asiedu lived up to expectations of his teeming fans who urged him on to ease past Emmanuel Amos-Banyie 9-8(6)and 9-5 against 9-5 in the top three round robin game. Eunice Mintah and Tracy Ampah were the finalists with Eunice Mintah winning 9-7 to lift the ladies trophy in the Women’s event. In the women’s doubles: Tracy Ampah and Georgina Adusei earlier on defeated Eunice Minta and her sister Roseline Afari-Minta in the final which was keenly contested. Tracy again paired up with Osman Karim and ousted former champions Eric Okyere and Ruby Sanoah in the mixed doubles category. Bayport Tennis Cup: Sakumono Tennis Club To host VRA Tennis Club

Sakumono Tennis Club  will host their counterparts from Akosombo, Volta River Authority Tennis Club in a special friendly tennis game this weekend. The one-day tourney which will take place on Saturday 24th November 2018, is sponsored by Bayport Savings and Loans and will see some of the best tennis players from Sakumono Tennis Club led by Henry Akwaboa, Sammy  Ewool, Frank Eshun, Tina Yamak, Louisa Davies and Eric Owusu.
