Samuel Antwi wins his first National Ranking Title

Samuel Antwi beats former Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF)/Tennis Foundation Ghana (TFG) No.1 Jeff Bagerbaseh 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 in the edition 2018 National ranking Tour 5. When the 5th National Ranking Tour began late last week Monday, Several players were tipped to win the title, Samuel Antwi was not one. Antwi, 17, is considered a promising young player but has in previous tournaments had his excitement truncated through early exits by more experienced players. Alisi and Egyir win 2018 Babolat Doubles Open

Clement Alisi and his doubles Partner Fred Egyir won the 2018 Babolat Doubles open title with a 6-4,6-4 victory over the Abloh brothers (Prince and Rahman) in the social one category at the TOR Tennis Club House Tema Com 8 last weekend. In the first set Fred and Clement broke Abloh brothers in the ninth game to win the set 6-4. The second set followed the same pattern as Rahman showed some fine touches at the net, but neither he nor Prince could do enough on the return to make an impression against Fred/Clement and lost 6-4 in the second set. After displays of beautiful tennis to the admiration of tennis enthusiasts at the TOR tennis  house by Michael Adade and  his partner Kwabena Awuku they still lost to more a composed partners, Charles and George in a game that ended 6-2,6-2 in the social two finals. VRA beats NEDCO in Tennis friendly

Akosombo VRA Tennis Club , last Saturday  put up a lucky performance to defeat Tamale NEDCO Tennis Club Tema 5-4 in their friendly competition played at the Akosombo Tennis Courts. The game which was aimed at strengthening the already existing cordial relationship between the two clubs saw captain of VRA Alfred Okang winning the first game 7-3 against Hassan Neindow The VRA team continued their winning ways  as Samuel Lamptey beat Mohammed Suleman 7-3 in a keenly contested game. The tide however changed in favour of Tamale NEDCO Tennis Club as Sampson Sayibu beat Isaac Narh 7-2 with Dominic Amevor also beating Yaw Akotuah 7-6. In the doubles event, Dan Aggrey and his partner Commoder Kyaanu set the ball rolling with a 7-3 win over Dan Dadzie and Isaac, Lloyd Newton paired up with Ernest Okyere(Djibobo) to oust Justice and Nii 7-3. Babolat Doubles Open slated for sept. 21

Ghana’s finest junior and social tennis players are set to battle it out for the ultimate prize at stake in the sixth edition of the Babolat sponsored Tema Doubles Open Tennis. The three-day tournament is scheduled to start on Friday, September 21, at the Ghana Cement (GHACEM) Club House, TDC club house and TOR tennis club house all in Tema. And the categories to be competed in are social one (semi-advanced players), social two (intermediate and above 50), social mixed doubles and Under-14 boys. Tournament organizer Ismaila Lamptey, CEO of Baboo Sports said, "The competition aimed at bringing Tennis stars in the area together to network, as well as to hone skills of junior players."

Tracy Ampah wins Gauteng North Junior Open Tourney

The match was entertaining, tough and nervy as Ghana’s Tracy Ampah defeated South Africa's Erne Kotze in two tough sets of 7-5,6-3 to emerge as the winner of the Gauteng North Junior Open Tourney on Sunday afternoon in Pretoria, South Africa. The final was indeed a "slugfest," featuring thunderous serves, volleys and superb court coverage from two of the most outstanding juniors in a match which needed, as it seemed, a temporary "truce" or "seize fie" ordered from the heavens, with the Ghanaian leading 2-1 in the second set, after winning the first set at 7-5. Dr. Bansah is Chairman of Ho Tennis Club

Leadership changed hands at the Ho Tennis Club over the weekend as Dr. Cyril Bansah was sworn into office as the chairman of the club. The Former Club member takes over from Lieutenant Colonel Selom Kwasi Amengor (Ranger) who served for Ho Tennis Club for three years and a one term by the club’s constitution. The club elects New executives every three years.  Dr. Cyril Bansah is expected to continue the good works of Ranger who has been at the helm of the Ho Tennis Club since September 2015. Under the stewardship of Ranger, Ho Tennis Club became the most attractive tennis club in the country, growing their membership from 40 members to over 70 members during that period. All tournaments hosted by Ho Tennis Club have been corporate sponsored, further underpinning the attractiveness of the club to corporate Ghana.
